This article is based on information that has been presented to me by some of my sources, and it is said to be a really good read. One source in particular seemed to know the real story behind the facts presented by Oscar Wilde in his book, a book called “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. I was surprised and almost giddy, at how much of a story this book presented. It seems as if the author was able to gather all of the various information on Oscar Wilde from various interviews and personal accounts and weaving it together into one huge cohesive whole. The many characters in this book are all very real. Of course, not all of them were the actual Wilde.
From “The Picture of Dorian Gray” we learn that the old man that ran the brothel was named Mrs. Stokes, and she was a widow. She was also an orphan. Then we hear of the other characters that all have their own stories to tell and the kinds of things that they did and said. Some of the characters that we meet are definitely not people that you would think would have an important place in history, but they do.
This is a great book for those who are interested in the life of a great writer who did some interesting things. It would not be a book worth reading if it was not entertaining. In fact, there are many passages that could be made into a play, and that is what it is written to be. I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to others. I am sure that anyone who is interested in this book will enjoy it, too.
