“To thine own self be true, | to thine own self be true, thyself.” -Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde’s book, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”, is written in first person. It was first published in 1882 and published in Britain in a work-for-hire format. The writer was an Irishman called Oscar Wilde. He lived in exile for years in London, where he got a degree in law and later movead to Paris. Wilde served his term in jail and then later became a popular writer.

Many consider Oscar Wilde to be the father of modern literature. The worst thing about him is that he was a homosexual and he died in prison after being tried and convicted of sodomy. However, this is not what I am referring to. What I am referring to is the book that is written in first person by a known gay. It does not matter whether you are a homosexual or not, it is your right to know who you can trust and who you should not. Oscar Wilde is probably one of the most famous of all the homosexual characters that ever lived. The fact that he was a homosexual and was sentenced to jail does not make him any less of a person.
