Oscar Wilde, who would later become one of the most famous and important figures in literature and art, was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. One of the many people from his era to write literary pieces on a regular basis was James Joyce, who was inspired by the feline novelist’s writings and the struggle that he went through in the years before his death. Although he never lived to the age of 25, it is said that he had been growing old very quickly. He was also a prolific and in some ways eccentric writer, writing quite a few books in short periods of time.

Wilde became famous for his work with the Dublin Literary Club, known as the Druids. In fact, the name Wilde derives from the word druid which means “wise man”. His term for this club was “the school of Love.” Although he worked with the club on and off for a while, this period of his life was quite productive for him. He wrote several books about his experiences and observations of life, and these were all published after his death, all of which were critically acclaimed by critics.

The Literary Club Wilde founded consisted of writers, poets, and others in Dublin who also collaborated on different projects. In fact, if one looks closely, one can see that the members of the club had a tendency to write under pseudonyms, and some of them would travel back and forth between the time they were writing their novels and also of Wilde’s death. He also managed to keep an autograph book full of pieces that were written by his fellow writers and some were published at his death, which is what gave him the nickname “Wilde the Poet”.
